Life

Joseph Villard was introduced to photography by his brother Jean-Marie , who trained with Nadar and Louis Daguerre in Paris .

Joseph took over the photo studio founded by his brother in Quimper. In the years that followed, Joseph Villard toured Brittany on foot and by bike to absorb the monuments historiques and country life. Little by little he built up a large photo archive, which formed the basis for the postcard publisher, which published more than 7,000 postcards .

His son Joseph-Marie Villard (June 28, 1868– February 9, 1935) and then his grandson Joseph-Henri-Marie Villard (January 10, 1898– January 9, 1981) continued the photo studio.
