Joseph Werndl

Joseph Werndl (born January 24, 1929 in Pischelsdorf am Engelbach ) is an Austrian organist , choir director , composer and conductor .

Live and act

Werndl studied at the Mozarteum from 1949 to 1957 and passed the final exam for organ in 1955 and graduated from the Kapellmeister class in 1957 .

Between 1951 and 1977 he was organist and choirmaster in Mattighofen , conductor, choir and orchestra director and conductor of local and regional ensembles. From 1960 to 1963 he taught music at the Michaelbeuern Boys' Choir School and from 1963 he was first organist and choir director and then from 1965 to 2000 conductor of the Brucknerbund Orchestra in Ried im Innkreis . In 1983 he was appointed as Passau Cathedral Kapellmeister and held this position until his retirement in 2000. During this time he directed the Passau Cathedral Choir and the Passau Cathedral Orchestra. From 1990 to 1996 he headed the choir of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde Passau.
