Josh Earnest (born January 22, 1975 in Kansas City , Missouri , United States ) is an American politician and was the White House press secretary under President Barack Obama from 2014 to 2017 .

Young years

Earnest was born on January 22nd, 1975 in Kansas City , Missouri . His parents are Jeanne and Don Earnest. He enjoyed playing baseball and basketball in his spare time .

In 1997 he graduated from Rice University with a degree in political science .

After college, he worked in the 1997 mayoral election in Houston for eventual winner and mayor Lee Brown . He also worked on Michael Bloomberg's first mayoral election and for MP Marion Berry before becoming Obama's communications director in Iowa and later Texas in the 2008 presidential election .

He then became Assistant Secretary of the White House under Jay Carney. On May 30, 2014, President Barack Obama announced that Carney would resign and that Earnest would succeed him.

His wife works in the press office of the US Treasury Department. You have a son.
