Josh Malerman (born July 24, 1975 in Michigan ) is an American writer , singer and songwriter .

Life

Josh Malerman was enthusiastic about horror films and horror literature from an early age, wrote some poems and short stories at an early age and wrote numerous lyrics . He is the singer and band leader of the American indie rock band The High Strung , the lyrics of which he mostly writes himself.

His debut novel Bird Box , a post- apocalytical horror thriller, was published in 2014 and was nominated for the Bram Stoker Award and the James Herbert Award in 2015 . In 2015 his debut appeared under the German title Bird Box - Shut your eyes by Penhaligon Verlag. The German paperback edition was published in 2016 under the title The River - Your Last Hope by Blanvalet Verlag . The film adaptation of the book, directed by Susanne Bier and with Sandra Bullock in the lead role, was produced by Netflix and released in December 2018.

Josh Malerman lives and works in Royal Oak , Michigan.
