Josh Ryan Evans (born January 10, 1982 in Hayward , California , † August 5, 2002 in San Diego , California) was an American film actor .

Life

Joshua Ryan Evans was born in Hayward, California, to Chuck and Cheryl Evans. He had two older brothers, the older of whom, Timothy Michael Evans, died just two days before Josh was born, at only 8 years old. Evans was diagnosed early on with achondroplasia , a form of short stature . As a teenager, he never grew taller than 97 centimeters.

Evans, who has always dreamed of becoming an actor, first appeared in an episode of the sitcom All Under One Roof in 1996 . Other guest appearances in series such as Ally McBeal (1998) or most recently in Eine Himmlische Familie (1999) followed. His best-known role was offered to Evans in 2000 when he played the young Grinch in the comedy film The Grinch , alongside Jim Carrey . Although only recently in the film business, Evans was nominated for both the Young Artist Award and the Emmy Award .

Evans suffered from health problems throughout his life, so that he could not take part in any film projects in the last two years of his life. He even had to have open heart operations three times. Evans died in August 2002 from complications from the last procedure, at the age of only 20.
