Yossafat Moschtschytsch ( Ukrainian Йосафат Мощич ; born September 16, 1976 in Staryj Rosdil , Ukrainian SSR ) is a clergyman of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and Bishop of Chernivtsi .

Life

After training at the Ivano-Frankivsk seminary , he received the sacrament of ordination on September 26, 1999 . He then joined the missionary community of St. Andrew the Apostle, a congregation under episcopal law, and made his perpetual profession in 2002 .

The Synod of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church elected him auxiliary bishop in the Ivano-Frankivsk Archeparchy . On May 27, 2014, Pope Francis confirmed the election and appointed him titular bishop of Pulcheriopolis . The episcopal ordination donated him the Major Archbishop of Kiev and Galicia , Svyatoslaw Shevchuk , on August 3 of the same year; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Lemberg , Ihor Vosnjak CSsR , and the Archbishop of Ivano-Frankivsk, Volodymyr Viytyshyn .

On September 12, 2017, Pope Francis Yossafat Moschtschytsch confirmed the election as the first bishop of the Chernivtsi eparchy, which was established on the same date . The inauguration took place on November 18 of the same year.
