Joy Matter

Joy Matter ( Joyce Matter-Doebeli ; born October 7, 1935 ; entitled to live in Kölliken ) is a Swiss politician ( Young Bern , later Young Bern Free List , member of the Greens ).

Life

Matter was a secondary school teacher of English from 1959 to 1988 . She was involved in organizations for the disabled and in the women's movement . From 1978 to 1988 she was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern . From 1989 to 1996 she was a councilor for the city of Bern and headed the school administration. From 1990 to 1997 she was President of the Commission for Foreigners of the City of Bern. From 1998 to 2007 she chaired the Gertrud Kurz Foundation , which works in the field of foreigner integration.

She is the widow of the dialect songwriter Mani Matter and co-editor of his works. The theater director Meret Matter appeared in public with her three children . Matter lives in Wabern near Bern .
