Career

Juan Alonso began his active career at the age of 18 with CD Logroñés . After a season he moved to the local racing club due to his stationing during military service in Ferrol . After his conscription he went to Real Madrid , where he was to stay for thirteen years and celebrated numerous successes.

He achieved a total of five successes in the European Cup , as many Spanish championship titles and two wins in the Coupe Latine . In June 1961 Real Madrid dedicated a farewell game to him against the top Argentine club CA River Plate , which the guests won 3-2. In the 1962/63 season he played a few more games with Real Madrid's second team, AD Plus Ultra in the second division. After his career, Juan Alonso devoted himself to gastronomy and ran various restaurants. He died on September 8, 1994 in his hometown of Hondarribia .
