Juan Pablo Ficovich (born January 24, 1997 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine tennis player .

Career

Ficovich played on the junior tour until 2015, where he came to 150th place in the corresponding ranking list. His best performance in a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the quarter-finals at the 2015 French Open , where he lost to Corentin Denolly .

In his first year on the professional tour, Ficovich reached his first final on the third-rate ITF Future Tour in 2014 . He also made his first final on the ATP Challenger Tour in Montevideo . He finished the year at number 664 in the tennis world rankings . After a weaker year in 2015, he won his first futures titles in 2016 in singles and doubles. In 2017 and 2018, two titles were added in singles, and two in doubles in 2018.

After cracking the top 400 in 2017, it rose to 237th place at the end of 2019, its highest ranking to date. In addition to four futures that he won, he also achieved successes at Challengers for the first time. In Buenos Aires he reached a quarter-finals for the first time. A week later he surprisingly reached the Campinas final without losing a set . There he was defeated by the Peruvian Juan Pablo Varillas , who had also surprisingly reached the final. After reaching the quarter-finals again in Lima and Champain , the Argentine moved into a Challenger final for the second time in his career in Morelos in February 2020 . For his only appearance on the ATP Tour so far , Ficovich came two weeks earlier at the tournament in Córdoba , where he found his way into the main field via qualification . In the first round he lost there to Gianluca Mager from Italy. He also lost there in doubles at the start. On March 2nd, he was able to improve his top position in the ranking to 198th in the individual.
