Juan Rodríguez (oarsman)
Juan Antonio Rodríguez Iglesias (born July 9, 1928 in Dolores , Uruguay - † September 27, 2019 ) was a Uruguayan rower . He won two Olympic bronze medals.
At the 1948 Olympic rowing regatta on the Thames near Henley , William Jones and Juan Rodríguez finished third in the third forerun in a double scull. With a victory in the third hope run and another victory in the third semifinals, the two Uruguayans qualified as one of three crews for the final. In the final, the British won ahead of the Danes and the Uruguayans.
Four years later at the 1952 Olympic rowing regatta in Meilahti , a district of Helsinki, Miguel Seijas and Juan Rodríguez took second place behind the Soviet double scull in the second run. In the second semi-final, the Argentines won ahead of the German double scull, the Italians and the Uruguayans. With a victory in the first hope run in front of the US boat and the Australians, the Uruguayans qualified as one of five boats. The Argentines won the final ahead of the Soviet boat, the two Uruguayans took third place.
At the Pan American Games in 1955 , Rodríguez finished second in the single behind the US rower John B. Kelly junior .
