Juanito Valderrama
Juanito Valderrama (born May 24, 1916 in Torredelcampo , Jaén Province , Spain as Juan Valderrama Blanca ; † April 12, 2004 , Espartinas, Seville Province ) was a Spanish copla andaluza and flamenco singer and songwriter. He is the father of the pop flamenco singer Juan Antonio Valderrama Abril, known as Valderrama . He is the author of numerous classics of copla andaluza , such as El Emigrante (a homage to the emigrants during the Spanish Civil War), La primera comunión and De polizón and has recorded over 700 titles.
biography
Juanito Valderrama was raised in a family of farmers, where he learned about flamenco as a child while working in the fields and developed a passion for this music. He made his first appearance in 1935 at the Cine Metropolitano in Madrid . He took part in the Spanish Civil War on the Republican side and was wounded in battle. At the end of the war he was already known for his recordings and founded his own band. He has three children from his first marriage (until 1979) and two children from his second marriage (since 1981) with the flamenco singer Dolores Abril . On April 12, 2004, he died in his home in Espartinas of complications from a heart attack.

With Dolores Jiménez Alcántara, "La Niña de la Puebla", he worked together since 1934 and appeared with his future wife Dolores Abril in several films for decades as a duo partner. He has worked with, among others, Fosforito , El Güito, Pepe Pinto , Curro de Utrera, La Niña de los Peines, Juanito Mojama, Aurora Pavón, Caracol and Camarón de la Isla .

Juanito Valderrama can be seen as a singer in seven films, El rey de la carretera (1956), El emigrante (1959), Gitana (1965); De barro y oro (1966); La niña del patio (1966); Flash 03 (1967) and El Padre Coplillas (1968). Dolores Abril was also often part of the party as a singer.
