Juanulloa ochracea is a plant type from the genus Juanulloa in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

description

Juanulloa ochracea is a shrubby growing plant whose hanging branches, petioles and flowers are more or less brittle. The leaves are ovate-oblong or oblong-almost lanceolate, rounded or wedge-shaped at the base, pointed at the tip. They are 8 to 20 cm long and 4 to 7 cm wide, hairless, paper-like and slightly rigid. The leaf veins are pale, the secondary leaf veins are only vaguely recognizable on the surface, but slightly protruding on the underside.

The golden inflorescences are in the leaf axils and consist of three to four fragrant flowers . They are supported by 1.5 to 2 mm large bracts. The flower stalks are 5 to 15 mm long. The calyx is tightly membrane-like, divided almost to the base, the five elongated-lanceolate lobes are pointed and 15 to 22 mm long and at the base 2 to 5 mm wide. The yellow-orange, 3.5 cm long crown is only hairy on the inside at the starting point of the stamens , which is about 1 cm above the crown base. The corolla tube has a diameter of about 5 mm, the coronet is about 8 mm wide, at the edge it is somewhat contracted, the oval, truncated corolla lobes are bent back and 2 mm long. The stamens are 12 to 15 mm long, the almost heart-shaped anthers about 8 mm. The female flower parts are on a 1 mm high, wavy disc, the stylus is lobed and expanded.

The fruit is an egg-shaped berry that is about 12 mm wide.

Occurrence

The species grows in an area that stretches from the eastern Peruvian Amazon basin to northern South America and slightly beyond.
