Judwaa ( Hindi , lit .: twins ) is an Indian comedy film directed by David Dhawan from the year 1997 .

Geeta Malhotra ( Reema Lagoo ) has twins. When her husband Bharosa Malhotra ( Dalip Tahil ) visits her in the hospital, a criminal ( Deepak Shirke ) who has been sentenced to death for Bharosa in order to avenge himself comes up and uses one of the babies as a shield. Malhotra and the police follow the kidnapper to his house, where they kill him, but nobody notices that he dropped the baby on the way. When the house explodes in the shooting, Malhotra believes his son is dead. Raja ( Salman Khan ) grows up as an orphan and becomes a thief with his friend Rangeela ( Shakti Kapoor ). His twin brother Prem (Salman Khan) lives with his parents in America until Malhotra and his friend Sharma ( Kader Khan ) decide to marry him off to Sharma's daughter Mala ( Karisma Kapoor ). Mala has now fallen in love with Raja. When Prem shows up, Mala thinks he is Raja. And Raja is mistaken for prem by several people. Soon it won't be so fun, because the son of the killed criminal - Ratanlal Tiger ( Mukesh RishI ) still wants to take revenge on Malhotra.
