Anu Malik ( Hindi : अनू मलिक, Anū Malik; also अन्नू मलिक, Annū Malik; * 1960 in Mumbai ) is an Indian composer. He writes songs for the Hindi film .

biography

Malik is the son of the composer Sardar Malik (1925-2006) and made his film debut in 1981 with Poonam . But his breakthrough came with winning a until 1993 Filmfare Awards for Baazigar . Despite his success, Malik found little recognition even in the 1990s, he - like most Indian film composers - was accused of plagiarism , he is said to have used melodies from both Western music and Indian composers. Since receiving a National Film Award for Refugee in 2001 , he is now considered one of the most versatile composers. His song Chamma Chamma from China Gate was also used in the English film Moulin Rouge and Chunari Chunari from Biwi No. 1 was the soundtrack in Monsoon Wedding . With his work for Love Indian , he is one of the few of his colleagues who was also employed in international productions.

Malik sometimes sings in his songs. He was the lead singer for films with Salman Khan , Akshay Kumar and Shahid Kapoor , but mostly he appears in the background choir.

Prices

Anu Malik won the National Film Award / Best Music for the film Refugee (2001) and is a two-time winner of the Filmfare Award / Best Music , for Baazigar (1993) and for I'm always there for you! ( Main Hoon Na ) (2004). He also received a Screen Weekly Award for Main Hoon Na .
