Shahid Kapoor ( Hindi : Ś कपूर , Śāhid Kapūr ; born February 25, 1981 in Bombay ) is an Indian actor and model , who is known for his Hindi films . He won two of four Filmfare Award nominations, including best actor for his performance in Shakespeare's Hamlet adaptation Haider (2014).

Life

Shahid Kapoor is the son of actor Pankaj Kapoor and Neelima Azeem . The two divorced when he was three years old. He grew up with his mother. On the maternal side, Shahid Kapoor is a great-grandson of the director Khwaja Ahmad Abbas .

On July 7, 2015, Kapoor married the student Mira Rajput in a ceremony in Delhi. On August 26, 2016, he became the father of a daughter.

Career

He studied dance and got some roles in music videos as well as in films. In the movie Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), he danced as a background dancer in the song Le Gaye . Two years later he was used again as a background dancer in the song Kahin aag lage lag jaye ( Taal 1999) at the side of Aishwarya Rai .

His debut film Ishq Vishk was moderately successful, but it won the 2003 Filmfare Award for Best Debut, as well as the Star Screen Awards and the Zee Cine Award . Two more films followed in 2004. Fida , with Kareena Kapoor and Fardeen Khan and Dil Maange More , a romantic comedy with Soha Ali Khan , Tulip Joshi and Ayesha Takia . With his half-brother Ishaan he played together in the film Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi! . He prefers to play the romantic hero in films, often with Kareena Kapoor and Amrita Rao . For his work in the film Shikhar , he received a nomination for the Star Screen Award / Best Actor . In 2006, Shahid starred in the comic book thriller 36 China Town , which was only moderately successful. In the summer of 2006, Shahid went on a world tour with other Bollywood stars such as Salman Khan , Kareena Kapoor, John Abraham , Esha Deol , Mallika Sherawat and Zayed Khan .

After Vivah , Shahid had his big breakthrough in 2007 with Jab We Met at the side of his then girlfriend Kareena Kapoor , who separated from him shortly after the shoot. In 2009 Shahid Kapoor played with Rani Mukerji in My Heart Calls for Love - Dil Bole Hadippa! . The film was not a commercial success. In 2009, Shahid played a double role alongside Priyanka Chopra, where he played both a positive and negative character and also had to stutter and lisp. Kapoor shaved off his hair for the film Haider (2014). His role has received critical acclaim, which is an adaptation of Shakespeare's Hamlet . He produced the film and can be seen alongside Tabu and the newcomer Shraddha Kapoor. He won the Stardust Award and the Filmfare Award in the categories of best drama actor and best actor for his performance . Haider is the first Indian film to be shown at the Rome Film Festival and won the People Choice Award .

Shahid makes a brief dance appearance in the song Punjabi Must in Action Jackson . After R ... Rajkumar , Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha are back on screen together for a short time.
