action

Young Veera lives in a small village in Punjab and dreams of making a name for herself on a cricket team. She is a fan of the cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and works in a dance theater together with the star Shanno, who is very convinced of her talent.

Rohan is a successful captain of a cricket team in England. His father Vicky and his mother Yamini live separately. His mother lives with him in England, while his father has stayed in India and rarely sees Rohan. Vicky's Indian cricket team plays one game every year against the Pakistani team of Lucky, Vicky's friend. The Indian team has not won the game, the so-called "Aman Cup", for eight years. Vicky wants his son to help lead the team to victory. Since Vicky doesn't know how to get Rohan to come to India, he fakes a heart attack. When Rohan comes to India and hears why his father played him the heart attack, he lets himself be persuaded to train the team.

Rohan wants to choose the best players for the team. When Veera hears about the selection training, she immediately runs to the field to prove her skills. The security guard in front of the gate to the field of play does not let her in because she is a woman. In the dance theater she is given the idea of dressing up as a man. The next day she goes to the field in her disguise, can show what she can do and joins the team as Veer Pratap Singh.

One day while training, Sonia, a friend of Rohan's, pours juice on her face. Veer runs into the locker room, where an angry Rohan follows him because Sonia has complained about Veer. In the locker room he doesn't meet Veer, but Veera. The two fight, whereupon Veera claims she is Veer's sister. On the field, Rohan asks Veer to take him to Veera so he can apologize. Vicky asks Veera to show Rohan the beauty of India so that Rohan never wants to go back to England. Rohan falls in love with Veera and asks Veer to allow him to go out with Veera. Veer agrees and the two have a wonderful evening.

The next day the decisive game between India and Pakistan takes place. Rohan's mother comes to the game to watch her son. During the excitement of the game, Veer loses a contact lens that Rohan notices. Rohan recognizes by the bright eyes that it is Veera. At halftime, Rohan argues with Veera because she cheated on him and played with him. Rohan goes back to the game, but without Veer. The Indians, who were so good before, are now playing badly because Veer is missing and Rohan is distracted from anger over Veera. Vicky, who overheard Rohan and Veera, explains to Rohan that it doesn't matter whether they win or lose. But Rohan realizes that it is important to his father and asks Vicky to go to Veera and ask her if she will play again. When Veera comes back on the field, it looks like the Indian team will win again. Veera is fouled by a Pakistani player and injured his arm. Rohan comes and helps her. The Indian team eventually wins the game and Rohan persuades Veera to reveal her true identity. At first everyone present is upset, but then Veera gives a speech, whereupon everyone understands that all talented women should have the opportunity to play in cricket teams. At the end everyone celebrates together and Veera and Rohan are united.

Reviews

“Star-studded Bollywood mix of sports film, mistaken identity comedy and romance drama. Great emotions, dramatic entanglements, comical role-playing games, singing and dance are mixed in a fluid dramaturgical way and enriched with a solid, educational message that deals with the rights of women, but also with the utopia of rapprochement with the enemy Pakistan.
