Jules-Alexandre Green
Jules-Alexandre Grün (born May 25, 1868 in Paris , † February 15, 1938 there ) was a French painter , graphic artist and lithographer . He is known as the last great artist of the Belle Époque .
Life
Jules-Alexandre Grün was a student of the famous theater decorator of the Paris Opera , Jean-Baptiste Lavastre , and the landscape painter and long-time jury member of the Paris Salon , Antoine Guillemet . Grün's preferred subjects were still lifes , portraits and scenes from Parisian life . In addition to Jules Chéret , Jules-Alexandre Grün made a name for himself as a poster painter and illustrator . His entire artistic oeuvre includes around 2,000 posters that he had created in around forty years.
Jules-Alexandre Grün died of complications from Parkinson's disease and was buried in the Père Lachaise cemetery.
