Jules Jeanjaquet
Jules Jeanjaquet (born February 19, 1867 in Le Locle , † April 9, 1950 in Neuchâtel ) was a Swiss Romance philologist .
life and work
The son of a watch spring manufacturer studied in Berlin and Zurich . He received his doctorate in 1891 under Heinrich Morf in Zurich with research on l'origine de la conjonction "que" et des formes romanes equivalentes (Paris / Leipzig / Neuchâtel 1894). From 1892 to 1897 he was a French lecturer at Lund University , then for three years archivist at the State Archives of the Canton of Neuchâtel . From 1901 to 1931 he was professor of Romance philology at the University of Neuchâtel . With Louis Gauchat and Ernest Tappolet he founded the Glossaire des patois de la Suisse romande . Jeanjaquet was an honorary doctor of the University of Bern (1947).
