Jules travel

Jules Reise (born October 6, 1818 in Bapaume near Rouen , † February 5, 1896 in Paris ) was a French chemist and politician.

Reise was a student of Henri Victor Regnault and worked in his laboratory at the Collège de France in Paris. He dealt particularly with problems in agriculture (ammonia formation in fertilizers, nitrification ).

In 1844 he found the first ammonia complex compounds of platinum (Reisesche Chloride).

From 1859 to 1863 he was a member of parliament for the Seine-Maritime department (then Seine-Inférieure).

Reise had been a corresponding member of the Academie des Sciences since 1857 and a full member since December 22, 1884 . He was co-editor of the Annuaire de chimie.

He was married to Juliette Le Bègue de Germiny, daughter of the Finance Minister and Governor of the Bank of France Charles Le Bègue de Germiny (1799–1871). Reise was the brother of the art historian and collector Frédéric Reise and nephew of General Marie-Antoine de Reise (1775–1836).
