Julia Riedel (born January 20, 1989 in Dresden ) is a German short tracker . It starts for the association EV Dresden .

Riedel made her World Cup debut in the 2006/07 World Cup season in Saguenay . In her first season she won her first international title at the European Championships in Sheffield , she won with the relay. She traveled to the World Championships in Milan as a substitute , but was then used for the ailing Susanne Rudolph over two individual routes. Over 1000 m and 1500 m she retired after the preliminary fights, with the relay she finished sixth. In the following 2007/08 season , she reached a semi-final in a World Cup race for the first time. She took part in the Junior World Championships and reached the quarter-finals as the best result over 500 m and 1500 m. There were no further good results in the period that followed. At the team world championships in 2009 and 2010 she was part of the German team, which finished in seventh place. At the 2010 European Championships in her hometown of Dresden, she won the gold medal again with the relay after the 2007 title. In individual races, Riedel was only used again at the 2010 World Championships in Sofia , but she was eliminated in the preliminary run. In the 2010/11 season she was able to land respectable successes again with two semi-finals in World Cup races. At the European Championship 2012 in Mladá Boleslav , Riedel finished fourth with the German relay team, as in the previous year.

Riedel has been a member of the Bundeswehr's sports promotion group since 2009 .
