Julien Macdonald

Julien Macdonald (born March 19, 1971 in Merthyr Tydfil , Wales , UK) is a British fashion designer who is known for his work as a former Givenchy head designer and for his own label Julien Macdonald .

Career

Julien Macdonald got into knitting at an early age, studying fashion knitwear at the University of Brighton and then doing his Masters at the famous Royal College of Art in London .

After completing his studies, Karl Lagerfeld recruited him to work in the Chanel knitwear division . He also designed for Lagerfeld's own label, Karl Lagerfeld . One of the high points of Julien Macdonald's career is probably the position as chief designer for Givenchy, succeeding Alexander McQueen , which he held from 2000 to 2004.

In 1997 he launched the Julien Macdonald label, which is still represented at London Fashion Week today. He also designs for the British department store chain Debenhams under the Star by Julien Macdonald label , which sells both clothing and home furnishings.

Julien Macdonald received special attention through his initiative against anorexia in the modeling industry, which he shows by only allowing models with a healthy body size to walk on his shows. He is also known for sending celebrities to the catwalk with his designs, so you could already spot Paris Hilton in one of his dresses at a show.

He also supports Heidi Klum as part of the jury for "Germany's Next Top Model" 2020
