Julien Noël Costantin

Julien Noël Costantin (born August 16, 1857 in Paris , † November 17, 1936 there ) was a French botanist and mycologist . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is " Costantin ".

Life

Costantin studied at the École normal supérieure in Paris and graduated in mathematics and physics in 1879. In 1880 he was appointed preparator, 1883, he was with a thesis on dicots doctorate . After a brief activity in Bordeaux as an assistant professor, he returned to Paris in 1884, where he was employed as a research assistant at the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle . In 1887 he became a lecturer at the École normal supérieure. After 1900 he held various chairs at the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle, the world's most important natural research and educational institution in the field of botany at the time. In 1907 he was president of the Société botanique de France . In 1912 he became a member of the Académie des Sciences in Paris.

Costantin has described more than 130 plant species.
