Julija Michailowna Leschnewa ( Russian Юлия Михайловна Лежнева ; also: Julia Lezhneva ; born December 5, 1989 in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk ) is a Russian soprano .

Julija Leschnewa is the daughter of two geophysicists. At the age of 16 she took part in a singing competition of the Russian opera diva Elena Obraztsova , who advised her to sing Rossini. Leschnewa studied singing at the Moscow Conservatory , the Cardiff International Academy of Voice and the London Royal College of Music . She attended master classes with Jelena Wassiljewna Obraszowa , Yvonne Kenny , Alberto Zedda and Thomas Quasthoff, among others . Giovanni Antonini had a decisive influence on her voice training . Her international breakthrough came in 2010 under Marc Minkowski at the Salzburg Music Week. Shortly afterwards Leschnewa made his debut at the Salzburg Festival .
