Julio César Enciso Ferreira (born August 5, 1974 in Capiatá , Paraguay ) is a former Paraguayan football player .

Club career

Enciso started his career at Cerro Porteño in 1994 . In his first year as a professional he was Paraguayan national champion and in 1996 moved to Brazil to SC Internacional . At the club from Porto Alegre he was 1997 champion of the state of Rio Grande do Sul . From 1998 until his move back to his home country to Olimpia Asunción in early 2001, he was the captain of Internacional.

Enciso celebrated its greatest success at Olimpia. In 2002 he won the Copa Libertadores in the final against São Caetano . In the final of the 2002 World Cup, he and his team Real Madrid were beaten 2-0. In the game for the Recopa Sudamericana 2003, the South American Super Cup, they were able to prevail against CA San Lorenzo de Almagro , not least thanks to a converted penalty from Enciso to the final score of 2-0. In late 2005 he moved from Olimpia to league rivals Club 12 de Octubre .

National team

Enciso completed 70 international matches for Paraguay's senior team between 1995 and 2004 . He was in Paraguay's squad at the 1998 World Cup in France and was used in all four games in his country over the full season.

He took part in the Copa America in 1995 , 1999 and 2001 . While he was still without a mission in 1995, he was a regular player in 1999 and 2001. The greatest success at the South American Championship was reaching the quarter-finals in 1999, when Uruguay had to admit defeat on penalties.

In 2004 Enciso was part of his country's Olympic selection. Enciso was a defensive midfielder in five of Paraguay's six games and was an important pillar of his team. The “Technical Report” by FIFA on the 2004 Olympic Football Tournament noted about Enciso: “ Key players in midfield, tireless efforts ”. Only in the final did the eleven of Paraguay's Argentina bend 0-1 and Enciso won the silver medal.
