Julius Bochmann (born March 8, 1901 in Cainsdorf ; † July 24, 1957 in Stuttgart ) was a German teacher and philatelist of the 20th century, mainly in the field of postmarking . For a total of 32 years he worked on the cataloging of special, serial and advertising stamps.

Life

From 1936 to around 1946 he was vice rector in Cainsdorf , lived in Zschopau at the time the first guild letters of the postmark guild 1947/48 were drawn up and later also worked as vice rector in Stuttgart until his death .

He is known as the founder and first editor of the now very extensive Bochmann catalog of German occasional postmarks . With this reference work, he created a clear division, identification and definition of the occasional stamps into special , advertising and serial stamps. With this directory he became the recognized authority in the field of German occasional postmarks. His name therefore stands as a term for the authoritative catalog for the occasional postmarks of the German postal administrations. This catalog appeared within the publication series of the postmark guild "Rhein-Donau" and was continued by other philatelists after his death. Supplements to the main catalog appear at longer intervals. Bochmann's work included the list of the occasional postmarks from 1865 to 1951. A first edition appeared in 1925.
