Julius Clarus

(Hermann) Julius Clarus (born March 9, 1819 in Leipzig ; † May 6, 1863 ibid ) was a German pharmacologist and university professor.

Life

As the son of the Leipzig medical professor Johann Christian August Clarus , he also studied medicine and chemistry at the University of Leipzig . In 1857 he became active in the Corps Lusatia Leipzig . In 1841 he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD . Since 1844 private lecturer and since 1848 associate professor at the University of Leipzig, he died in office at the age of 44. His work concerns various disciplines of medicine, such as cardiological diagnostics, idiotism , dietetics (of newborns and of the female gender) and especially drug theory . In pharmacology he made himself known through several experimental works on plant substances, his manual and annual reports and presentations. He was a member of the Leipzig Freemason Lodge Minerva to the three palms .
