Julius Freymuth
Julius Freymuth (born July 8, 1881 in Cologne , † October 1, 1961 in Nussdorf am Inn ) was a German landscape painter , draftsman and graphic artist who worked primarily in East Prussia .
Life
Freymuth received an artistic training at the Düsseldorf School of Applied Arts and at the Königsberg Art Academy . After 1918 he often stayed in Nidden ( Memelland ), a fishing village on the Curonian Spit , which was particularly popular with many artists in summer. Until the end of the Second World War he lived in Rauschen , a seaside resort on the north coast of Samland . From the 1930s onwards, Freymuth exhibited his landscape paintings in the Königsberger Kunstverein . Two portfolios on the landscapes of Samland and Mazury made him known. His brother-in-law, the East Prussian Ernst Rimmek (1890–1953), was a well-known horse and landscape painter.
