Julius Friedrich Willy Frerk

Julius Friedrich Willy Frerk jun. (* December 18, 1886 in Hanover ; † January 29, 1960 in London ) was a German-British publicist and writer .

Life

Frerk, son of Willy Frerk, editor of the Hannoversche Anzeiger , studied from 1907 to 1910 at the Universities of Göttingen , Munich , Kiel , Freiburg and Greifswald . He made numerous long trips in Europe, North Africa and Turkey and supplied foreign magazines with articles. Frerk translated from several European languages ​​and wrote novels and short stories himself.

He worked as editor- in- chief in Greifswald , Dortmund and Hanover and finally took over the management of the popular magazines Photofreund and Photowoche in Berlin . With his numerous books, Frerk played an important role in opening up technical media to amateurs, especially photography , film , radio and records .

He was married first to Kate Stern, then to Lisa Podszus, and had two daughters. In 1937 he emigrated to Czechoslovakia and in 1939 to Great Britain.
