Julius Friedrich Willy Frerk
Julius Friedrich Willy Frerk jun. (* December 18, 1886 in Hanover ; † January 29, 1960 in London ) was a German-British publicist and writer .
Life
Frerk, son of Willy Frerk, editor of the Hannoversche Anzeiger , studied from 1907 to 1910 at the Universities of Göttingen , Munich , Kiel , Freiburg and Greifswald . He made numerous long trips in Europe, North Africa and Turkey and supplied foreign magazines with articles. Frerk translated from several European languages and wrote novels and short stories himself.
He worked as editor- in- chief in Greifswald , Dortmund and Hanover and finally took over the management of the popular magazines Photofreund and Photowoche in Berlin . With his numerous books, Frerk played an important role in opening up technical media to amateurs, especially photography , film , radio and records .
He was married first to Kate Stern, then to Lisa Podszus, and had two daughters. In 1937 he emigrated to Czechoslovakia and in 1939 to Great Britain.
