Julius Indongo (* 12. February 1983 in Windhoek , South West Africa , now Namibia ) is a Namibian professional boxers in the light welterweight and former world champion of the associations IBF , IBO and WBA .

Amateur career

Julius Indongo qualified at the African eliminations in 2008 in Windhoek for the Olympic Games in Beijing , where he was eliminated in the first fight of the lightweight against the Australian Anthony Little.

Professional career

In 2009 he started his professional career in Namibia and became the national lightweight champion and the WBO African light welterweight champion. He won 20 fights in a row, 10 of them by knockout, where he also managed a victory against Kaizer Mabuza. He had fought against Zab Judah for the IBF World Championship in 2011 .

On December 3, 2016 he boxed in Moscow for the IBO and IBF world championships in light welterweight, where he defeated the undefeated Russian title holder Eduard Trojanowski after just 40 seconds of the first round by knockout. On April 15, 2017, he unanimously defended the title in Glasgow against Ricky Burns on points and thus also won his opponent's WBA world championship belt.

On August 19, 2017, he boxed against Terence Crawford for the additional world titles of the WBC and WBO, but lost the fight by knockout in the third round.
