Julius Koch (born July 11, 1870 in Bremen , † November 9, 1948 in Bremen) was a German businessman and writer.

biography

Koch's family came from the Wesermarsch . He attended high school in Bremen. Due to family circumstances, he became a businessman at the shipping company and cotton company Bischoff & Co and in 1894 became a partner in the company. From 1918 to 1934 he was chairman of the Bremen Cotton Exchange Association and from 1941 to 1942 President of the Bremen Cotton Exchange . He was a member of the Presidium of the German Group of the International Chamber of Commerce .

From a young age his hobby was literature. He wrote poetry and several dramas that were performed in the Bremen City Theater, but were soon forgotten. From 1903 to 1912 he was chairman of the Literary Society and from 1912 to 1936 he was president of the Kunstverein in Bremen . In 1928 he supported the construction of the Glocke concert hall on the Domsheide in Bremen, next to the Bremen Cathedral . He sponsored the art association, the Haus Seefahrt , the Focke Museum in Schwachhausen- Riensberg and the city theater in Bremen.
