Act

Julius Kuhl did research for several years in the USA (Stanford, Michigan ) and at the Max Planck Institute for Psychological Research ( Munich ).

The focus of his research is voluntary action control. In his action control theory he has described various strategies with which goal realization can be promoted under difficult circumstances. His research on situation orientation has identified a personality trait that is characterized by a tendency to delay action and to brood . According to this, position-oriented people differ from action-oriented people in that they have a lower ability to regulate emotions . With the PSI theory , Kuhl tried to create a comprehensive theory of volitional action control and to integrate theories from many psychological sub-disciplines. Kuhl has developed a diagnostic tool, the EOS potential analysis, with the help of which motivation and self-control skills can be recorded.
