Julius Petzholdt

Julius Petzholdt (born November 25, 1812 in Dresden ; † January 17, 1891 ibid) was a German librarian and bibliographer.

Life

Petzholdt studied philology in Leipzig . After the Progymnasmata des Aphthonios had been published , the Saxon Prince Johann contacted Petzholdt, made him his librarian and was able to rely on Petzholdt's help with the translation of Dante's Divine Comedy . In 1853, Petzholdt became librarian to Crown Prince Albert . In Dresden, the member of the Masonic lodge To the three swords and Asträa became the green diamond .

From 1840 to 1884 Petzholdt was the editor of the journal Anzeiger für Literatur der Bibliothekwissenschaft (from 1845: Anzeiger der Bibliothekwissenschaft , from 1851: Anzeiger für Bibliographie und Bibliothekwissenschaft , from 1856: New Anzeiger für Bibliographie und Bibliothekwissenschaft ).
