Julius Schulz (General, 1805)

Julius Schulz (born December 22, 1805 in Menzerath ( Montjoie district ), † October 24, 1875 in Kassel ) was royal Prussian major general and most recently inspector of the 6th fortress inspection.

Life

He first attended high school in Montjoie and went on December 8, 1824 after graduating as a pioneer in the 8th pioneer department. He got the character of Portepeefähnrich on September 12, 1826 . From October 1, 1826 to September 30, 1829 he was posted to the United Artillery and Engineering School , during which time he was granted his patent as a portepeef ensign on March 20, 1827. He then came to the building academy from October 1, 1828 to September 30, 1829. Then he was appointed second lieutenant on October 2, 1829 and aggregated into the 3rd engineer inspection at the same time came to the 1st company of the 8th engineer department. He was then classified on April 29, 1831.

On June 1, 1832, he became an adjutant of the 8th Pioneer Division until he was posted on July 19, 1838 for fortification service at Koblenz Fortress . On July 20, 1839, he became adjutant of the 5th fortress inspection, and on September 1, 1841, he was assigned to the fortification service at Mainz fortress . He was appointed Premier Lieutenant on March 25, 1843 and joined the Reserve Pioneer Company in Mainz on January 19, 1844. On July 1, 1845, he was commissioned to lead the Landwehr exercise near Wesel for 14 days. On July 23, 1847, he was brought back to the fortification service in Mainz. Promoted to captain on March 17, 1848, in 1850 he was appointed commander of the 2nd Reserve Pioneer Company in Mainz and on December 2, 1852, he was transferred from the square to Jülich Fortress as an engineer officer . There he was promoted to major on February 16, 1856, and on June 5, 1857, he was transferred from the square in Cologne fortress as an engineer officer. Promoted to lieutenant colonel on July 1, 1860, he was awarded the Commander's Cross of the Dutch Oak Crown on July 21, 1861 . On October 18, 1861 he was given the status of colonel, the patent for it on May 15, 1862, at the same time he was transferred to the 2nd fortress inspection as an inspector. On June 4, 1862, he was appointed a member of the Examination Board for Captains and Premier Lieutenants of the Engineer Corps. On June 4, 1865, he was released and transferred to the 6th fortress inspection, and on January 18, 1866, he was awarded the 3rd class crown medal .

When mobilizing for the German War , he was transferred to the Main Army as an engineer officer on May 20, 1866 . During the campaign he fought in the battles near Hammelburg, Kissingen, Aschaffenburg, Helmstadt and Würzburg. After the war, he was appointed major general on September 20, 1866 and was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 3rd class with swords . He was put up for retirement on December 2, 1867 and died on October 24, 1875 in Kassel.

He married on December 28, 1841 in Osterpai Marie Josepha Schott (* November 21, 1817 - January 16, 1900), a daughter of Major Joseph Schott .
