Julius Steiner (sculptor)
Julius Steiner (born March 4, 1863 in Innsbruck , † February 19, 1904 in Vienna ) was a Tyrolean sculptor .
biography
Julius Steiner was Sebastian Steiner's eldest son and studied with Viktor Tilgner . Besides Meran, he lived and worked in Bad Ischl and Vienna . He created over 2,000 portrait busts, mostly for members of the upper nobility. Among his clients were Franz Joseph I and Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary . Some of his works are now in the Palais Mamming Museum and the Vienna Hofburg . His bust of Franz Tappeiner is on Tappeinerweg in Merano.
