Julius Strobl

Julius Strobl (born April 21, 1868 in Bruck an der Leitha , † December 29, 1932 in Vienna ) was an Austrian actor .

Life

The son of a kk colonel had to break off his military career in 1888 because of a lung disease. He became an actor and took up an engagement at the Volkstheater in Vienna in 1890 .

In 1891 he went to Berlin and performed at the Wallner Theater there. In 1892 he embarked for the USA and was a member of the Irving Place Theater ensemble in New York . He also played on tours in other major American cities.

In 1900 he returned to Europe and worked in Hanover and a few years later in Vienna at the Theater in der Josefstadt . From 1915 he also took on minor film roles in which he portrayed nobles and other influential personalities. In 1919 he became vice president of the German-Austrian stage association and in 1922 of the film association .
