Juniperus jarkendensis is a plant from the family of the cypress family (Cupressaceae). It is native to Central Asia. It is considered by some authors to be a synonym of Juniperus semiglobosa .

description

Juniperus jarkendensis grows as an evergreen shrub that can reach heights of 20 to 50 centimeters. The dark green, scale-like leaves are 1 to 1.5 millimeters long. The berry cones carry three to four seeds.

Distribution and location

The natural range of Juniperus jarkendensis includes Russia, Kazakhstan as well as the Chinese autonomous regions of Xinjiang and Tibet .

Juniperus jarkendensis thrives at altitudes of 2800 to 3000 meters.

Systematics

It was first described as Juniperus jarkendensis in 1925 by Wladimir Leontjewitsch Komarow in "Botanicheskie Materialy Gerbariya Glavnogo Botanicheskogo Sada RSFSR", Volume 4, page 181. The species is regarded by some authors as a synonym of Juniperus semiglobosa rule . Synonyms for Juniperus jarkendensis Kom. Are Juniperus sabina var. Jarkendensis (Kom.) Silba and Sabina vulgaris var. Jarkendensis (Kom.) Cheng-yuan Yang .
