Gerhard Engel (Senator)

Gerhard Engel (born March 1, 1939 in Bad Nauheim , † March 19, 2010 in Alzenau ) was a German politician ( CSU ).

Engel grew up in Kaichen and passed his Abitur at the classical grammar school of the Augustinian School in Friedberg in Hesse . He studied law first in Marburg , later in Würzburg . In 1962 he passed the first state examination and in 1966 the second. After completing his studies, Engel initially worked for the government of Lower Franconia and then employed the Federal Ministry of the Interior . In 1970 he became a legal civil servant, initially at the district office in Alzenau , and from 1972 in Aschaffenburg .

Engel was elected to the Alzenau city council for the first time in 1984 and became second mayor there. From 1987 to 1999 he was the first mayor of the city of Alzenau, after which he held the honorary title of former mayor and was a member of the Aschaffenburg district assembly. On March 25, 1998 he moved into the Bavarian Senate and was a member of the group of municipalities and municipal associations until the dissolution.
