Juozas Grigaitis

Juozas Grigaitis (born February 28, 1881 in Paraišupys , Wolost Javaravas , now Marijampolė municipality , † January 19, 1947 in Dorothy , New Jersey ) was a Lithuanian lawyer , judge , lieutenant general .

Life

In 1904 Grigaitis completed his law studies at the University of Moscow in Russia and then served in the life guards in Finland , from 1906 in the war directorate in Vilnius and Vitebsk in the Imperial Russian Army . In 1919 he was mobilized by the Lithuanian Army . From 1920 to 1922 he worked at the Ministry of Defense of Lithuania . From 1921 to 1923 he taught at the college courses for officers in Kaunas . From 1922 he worked as an assistant to the state defender in the military court . From 1923 to 1926 he was a member of this military tribunal and temporarily worked as the court president . In 1926 he was promoted to lieutenant general. From 1927 to 1933 he headed the Kaunas District Court as court president . From 1933 to 1940 he was a judge at the Lietuvos Vyriausiasis Tribunolas .

Grigaitis was one of the founders of the Lietuvos teisininkų draugija association .

From 1941 to 1944 he was a judge at Apeliaciniai rūmai . In 1944 he emigrated to Germany and in 1946 to the USA .
