Juozas Karvelis

Juozas Karvelis (born April 18, 1934 in Eičiai , Tauragė district ; † April 12, 2018 ) was a Lithuanian politician .

Life

From 1942 to 1944 Karvelis attended school in Inkakliai ( Šilutė Rajongemeinde ) and then from 1945 to 1949 in Švėkšna near Šilutė . From 1950 to 1952 he attended the seaman's school in Klaipėda and from 1952 to 1954 the seaman's school in Murmansk (Russia). From 1960 to 1963 Karvelis studied at Vilnius University . From 1954 to 1958 he worked in Murmansk and from 1959 in the Lithuanian port city of Klaipėda (Memel). 1970-1980 he was the second assistant to the chief captain of the Lithuanian shipping and captain . 1986–1990 he was a sea pilot at the Klaipėda Commercial Port .

From 1990 to 1992 Karvelis was a member of the 5th Seimas , as well as a member of the economic committee there. He was a member of Sąjūdis .

family

Karvelis was married. He had three children with his wife Janina (* 1934).
