Jup Weber

Joseph "Jup" Weber (born June 15, 1950 in Luxembourg ) is a Luxembourg politician (formerly GAP, GLEI, GaL).

Life

Weber is a qualified engineer for forestry at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna . In 1983 he was a co-founder of the Luxembourg Greens ( Gréng Alternative Party , GAP). He was chairman of the Greens in Junglinster . From 1984 to 1994 he was one of the first green members of the Chamber of Deputies . After disputes within the party, he founded the GAP spin-off Gréng Lëscht Ekologesch Initiativ (GLEI) in 1985 . In 1994 he was elected to the European Parliament on a joint list by GAP and GLEI .

In 1995 both parties merged, Weber did not join the merger, but founded a new party with the Gréng a Liberal Alliance (GaL). He also left the Green Group in the European Parliament and switched to the Group of the European Radical Alliance . In the 1999 chamber election , the GaL failed to enter the chamber with 1.1% of the votes. In the European elections , which took place at the same time , it reached 1.83%, so that Weber lost his mandate. The GaL was dissolved soon afterwards.

Weber is an officer of the Luxembourg Oak Wreath Order .
