Juraj Sýkora (born September 19, 1983 in Bratislava , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Vítkovice Steel in the Czech extra league since August 2010 .

Career

Juraj Sýkora began his career as a hockey player in the youth of HC Slovan Bratislava , for whose professional team he made his debut in the extra league in the 2002/03 season , scoring a goal in 29 games. In his rookie year , the center, who ran up for the Huskies de Rouyn-Noranda in the Canadian top junior league QMJHL in the 2001/2002 season, became Slovak champion . He was able to repeat this success with the capital city club from Bratislava in 2005, 2007 and 2008. In the summer of 2008, the left shooter moved to HC Košice , with whom he won the Slovak championship for the fifth time in his career in the 2008/09 season. A year later he won another championship title with Košice, before he moved with his teammates Rudolf Huna and Peter Húževka to HC Vítkovice Steel in the Tipsport extra league .

International

For Slovakia Sýkora took part in the U20 Junior World Championship in 2003 , where he finished fifth with his team.
