Yuri Alexandrowitsch Panow ( Russian Юрий Александрович Панов ; born December 21, 1970 in Omsk , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player .

Career

Yuri Panov began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth of HK Avangard Omsk , for whom he made his debut in the Russian Super League in the 1991/92 season . Following his rookie year, the defender moved to their league rivals HK Lada Tolyatti , with whom he first 1993 CIS runner and a year later CIS champion was. In the summer of 1995 he returned to HK Awangard Omsk, for which he was on the ice for the next ten years and was runner-up in 2001 and Russian champion in 2004 . In addition, the left-handed shooter won the IIHF European Champions Cup with his team in 2005 . In the final they won against Kärpät Oulu from the Finnish SM-liiga .

Following the success at European level, Panow moved to Chimik Moskowskaja Oblast , which he left after only one year to play for SKA Saint Petersburg . After he had started the 2007/08 season in Saint Petersburg, he moved to their league rivals Vitjas Chekhov during the season . He started the 2008/09 season at Gazprom-OGU Orenburg from the second-rate Vysschaya League . Panov then signed with their league rival Gasowik Tyumen , for whom he has played since then.
