Yuri Eduardowitsch Dumchev

Juri Eduardowitsch Dumtschew ( Russian Юрий Эдуардович Думчев , English transcription Yuriy Dumchev ; born August 5, 1958 in Rossosh , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ; † February 10, 2016 ) was a Soviet discus thrower and actor .

At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, Dumchev was fifth in the discus throw . On May 29, 1983, he improved the world record in Moscow by 70 cm to 71.86 m. With this width, Dumchev is fourth in the all-time world rankings (as of February 2016).

At the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1983 , he was eliminated in qualification. The following year he won the Friendship Competitions , which were held as a counter-event to the Olympic Games in Los Angeles . In 1988 he finished fourth at the Olympic Games in Seoul .

In 1980, 1981 and 1988 he became Soviet champion.

Yuri Dumchev was 2.00 m tall and weighed 125 kg. After having had a small role in a film in 1979, he has appeared regularly as a film actor since the mid-1980s .
