Yuri Konstantinowitsch Gempel

Juri Konstantinowitsch Gempel ( Russian Юрий Константинович Гемпель , also transcribed as Juri Hempel ; born March 15, 1957 in Smela , Cherkasy Oblast , Ukrainian SSR ) is a former Ukrainian, now Russian lawyer as well as the long-standing chairman of the “Republican Community of the Crimean Republic ”.

Gempel attended the State Vocational School (No. 192) of Zelinograd (today Nur-Sultan (until 2019 Astana) ), the capital of the Kazakh SSR , which he graduated in 1975. He then worked as a turner in the nearby Kazakh-selmasch plant.

In 1986 he graduated from the Barnaul school of the Soviet Interior Ministry (russ. Барнаульская специальная средняя школа подготовки начальствующего состава МВД СССР ), in 2000 the Moscow State Academy of Law (Московскую Государственную юридическую академию).

Gempel has been chairman of the Republican Community of Crimean Germans (Rebirth) since 1999 (Russian председатель Республиканского общества немцев Крыма «Видергебуртер» («Видергебуртер» («Видергебуртер» («) везизез). He is also the editor-in-chief of the Republican Community Newspaper - Hope . On his initiative, German cultural centers were set up in some regions of the Crimean peninsula . In 2000 he set up the non-governmental organization - The Goethe Center for German Language and Culture ("Центр немецкого языка и культуры имени Гете").
