Juri Nikolajewitsch Parijski ( Russian Юрий Николаевич Парийский ; born May 23, 1932 in Moscow ) is a Russian astronomer .

Life

Parijski, son of the astronomer Nikolai Nikolajewitsch Parijski , studied at the physics - mathematics faculty of the Lomonossow University Moscow (MGU) with graduation in 1955 and then worked in the Pulkovo observatory . In 1969 he became the vice director of the Zelenchuk Observatory . In 1972 he received his doctorate in physical and mathematical sciences . In 1979 he was elected a Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (AN-SSSR, since 1991 Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN)). In 1992 he became a full member of the AN-SSSR.

Parijski made important contributions to radio astronomy , the physics of cosmic radio wave sources and the construction of radio telescopes. He made precise observations on cosmogony . He found a strong anisotropy of the background radiation , which led to a revision of the theories of galaxy formation. He examined the fine structures of galaxies and compiled a catalog of their radio sources with a view to the morphological classification of galaxies . He examined questions about the evolution of radio sources.

Parijski intensively studied antennas with a variable profile for receiving radio waves. He showed the possibility of interconnecting individual radio telescopes to form a phase-stable system and, with a limited number of antennas , synthesizing images using the rotation of the earth . He examined the limits of the resolving power of radio telescopes with regard to the radio wave propagation conditions in space and in the earth's atmosphere as well as the fluctuations of the sources in the intergalactic background. He helped organize the construction of the new RATAN 600 radio telescope . Parijski is the author or co-author of a large number of diverse publications.
