Jurica Pavičić

Jurica Pavičić (* 1965 in Split ) is a Croatian writer , journalist , film and literary critic.

He studied at the University of Zagreb and has a master's degree in comparative literature and history. He works as a journalist for the Croatian daily newspaper Jutarnji list .

Jurica Pavičić has written several novels: Ovce od gipsa (1997) and Nedeljnji prijatelj (2000) are related. In the first novel, he describes the murder of the Serb Tišma in Split in 1992 by Croatian soldiers. Using history, he shows the life of civilians during the war. Vinko Brešan used the novel as the basis for his film Svjedoci (German title Die Zeugen ). The witnesses were awarded the Peace Prize at the 2004 Berlinale . Some of the protagonists can be found in the second novel. Here he describes and criticizes corruption in Croatia.

Jurica Pavičić is a signatory of the declaration published in 2017 on the common language of Croatians , Serbs , Bosniaks and Montenegrins .
