Jurij Wiktorowytsch Nikitin ( Ukrainian Юрій Вікторович Нікітін ; born July 15, 1978 in Cherson , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a former Ukrainian trampoline gymnast and Olympic champion .
Nikitin won bronze four times at world championships . He did this three times in synchronized gymnastics, in 1994 in Porto , 2003 in Hanover and 2009 in Saint Petersburg . At the World Championships in Hanover in 2003, he also won the bronze medal in the team competition.
He took part in the Summer Olympics three times . The same for its first participation in 2004 in Athens , he celebrated the Olympic gold medal, leaving it the winner of Sydney 2000 , Alexander Moskalenko , behind. In 2008 he reached fifth place in the final, while in 2012 he clearly missed the finals with a 14th place in the qualification.
He also took part in the 2009 World Games in Kaohsiung , where he finished fifth in synchronized gymnastics.
