Jurunkku Bolong

The Jurunkku Bolong (other spelling Jurunku Bolong ; French spelling Jurunkku Bolon ) is a right tributary of the West African Gambia River .

geography

The Jurunkku Bolong rises in the North Bank Region in the Jokadu district and flows for a length of about 25 kilometers in a south direction until it reaches the place Jurunku at the coordinate 13 ° 25 ′ 0 ″  N , 16 ° 13 ′ 0 ″  W coordinates : 13 ° 25 '0 "  N , 16 ° 13' 0"  W having a width of approximately 860 meters in the Gambia river flows .

The addition Bolong , which has many tributaries of the Gambia, means "moving water" or "tributary" in the Mandinka language .

Flora and fauna

There are mangrove forests on the lower reaches of the river . On the middle reaches Kusaywa Forest Park is on the right western bank and Kumadi Forest Park is on the left eastern bank.

The vegetation on the upper reaches is a popular place to stay for the African monarch butterfly ( Danaus c. Chrysippus ) during the dry season . In the bushes lying on the shore, for example the burning bush ( Combretum paniculatum ), there are numerous nectar birds (Nectariniidae) and other smaller bird species. Occasionally the Senegalese goggle bird ( Zosterops senegalensis ) can be seen.
