Justin Huntly McCarthy

Justin Huntly McCarthy ( 1860 - March 20, 1936 ) was an Irish politician ( Irish Parliamentary Party ) and writer.

Live and act

McCarthy was the son of the politician Justin McCarthy (1830-1912). Since the son was a Member of Parliament (→ House of Commons ) like his father , they are occasionally confused. McCarthy was elected MP on June 12, 1884 and held that office until 1892.

About the artist Max Beerbohm McCarthy made the acquaintance of the actress Cissie Loftus (1876-1943) and married her in 1893 in Blackburn ( Lancashire ). The marriage took an unfortunate course, and the couple separated and divorced after a short time.

McCarthy wrote not only literary works such as short stories, novels and plays, but also notable non-fiction books in which he analyzed various aspects of British politics and history. He also tried his hand at editing and translating.
