The Palace of Justice (also Justice Building) is a public building on the edge of Augsburg's old town, in which the royal district and city court has been located since 1875. Originally all judicial authorities were housed there, today the building houses the Augsburg Regional Court and parts of the Augsburg Local Court . The building was constructed between 1871 and 1875 based on plans by Theodor Reuter . It is located on the site of the old inlet , a wooden bridge built for Maximilian I in the Augsburg city fortifications. It replaced the old building on Maximilianstrasse , which had been used as the royal district and city court since 1806 and which was demolished when Hallstrasse broke through.

The building is three-storey with a uniform appearance in the late classicist style. The structure has 15 front axles and 21 axles on the side. The facade is structured by small elements such as pilasters with capitals .

Around the Stadtpflegeranger , a small green area with old trees on the street Am Alten Einlaß, forms the Palace of Justice together with the building of the State and City Library , the opposite "Stadtpflegeranger School" ( St. Anna Primary School ) and the Great House of the "Stadttheater" (today the State Theater Augsburg ) an impressive ensemble . The four buildings belong to the ensemble Fuggerstrasse / Volkhartstrasse / Schaezlerstrasse, which is a comprehensive building ensemble under monument protection and is entered in the Bavarian monument list.
